Felony arrests

u Burglary, theft ' Uriel Castillo-Valle, 19, of the 500 block of Talent Avenue, Talent. Castillo-Valle appeared Tuesday in Jackson County Circuit Court on an indictment charging him with first-degree burglary and two counts of first-degree theft.

He was booked into the Jackson County Jail and released on his own recognizance.

u Tampering, forgery ' Ted Alan Vukovich, 51, of the 100 block of Skidmore Street, Ashland. Ashland police Tuesday arrested Vukovich on charges of second-degree forgery and two counts of tampering with drug records. He was lodged in jail, where he remained late Tuesday on &

u Aggravated theft, theft, drugs ' Victoria Paulanne Vinsick, 18, of the 900 block of Royal Court, Medford.

Medford police Tuesday arrested Vinsick on charges of first-degree aggravated theft, first-degree theft and possession of methamphetamine. She was lodged in jail, where she remained late Tuesday on &

36;20,000 bail.

Search and rescue

u Sheriff's department search and rescue teams Tuesday responded to a report of a 75-year-old man, who became lost in the woods around Whisky Springs Campground just northeast of Willow Lake.

The man was later identified as Norman Dean Peterson, of the 22000 block of Highway 62 in Shady Cove. He had been mushroom hunting in the area when he became separated from his party at around 5:10 p.m.

Peterson is diabetic and was recovering from recent leg surgery.

He had become confused and started walking in the wrong direction, officials said.

Two search and rescue helicopters were dispatched, along with several sheriff's personnel and 23 volunteers.

Peterson was found at 7:25 by a volunteer.

He was returned uninjured to his party, Sheriff Mike Winters said.
