Former Wall Street investment banker to visit valley
Project Rogue Valley will host financial expert Catherine Austin Fitts Jan. 26 and 27. Fitts, a former senior partner at a major Wall Street investment bank and federal housing commissioner, will speak at several events around the valley on topics including Wall Street, long- and short-term market trends and how to diversify and protect financial assets.
From 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Jan. 26 at the Elks Lodge in Ashland, she will talk about investment strategies for 2012. The workshop costs $45 and includes lunch.
At 7 p.m., Jan. 26, at Blue Greek on Granite in Ashland, she will give a dinner talk about practical finances. Cost for the dinner and presentation is $65.
On Jan. 27 she will give two presentations at the Medford library. From 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., she will talk about complementary currencies and creating community currencies that can work for everyone. The presentation is free. From 7 to 9 p.m., she will offer her assessment of what's to come for the economy in 2012, and tips on how consumers and investors can prepare. The event costs $15.
