Carolyn Hill, CEO of Travel Southern Oregon — formerly known as the Southern Oregon Visitors Association — was awarded the Oregon Travel and Tourism Industry Exceptional Partnership Award.

She was honored by the Oregon Tourism Commission at the 2014 Governor's Conference on Tourism in Sunriver

The annual awards recognize people and organizations across the state that go the extra mile to enhance the travel and tourism industry in Oregon.

Hill was recognized for her collaborative efforts in creating and promoting an effective tourism program.

It was presented for her work to align a diverse group of tourism organizations under the Travel Southern Oregon umbrella, which helps multiple organizations share resources and align their marketing efforts.

GRANTS PASS — Touchstone's Southern Oregon Pain Relief and Wellness Center is opening a Grants Pass location on Thursday. The Touchstone opened an office at 2925 Siskiyou Blvd., Medford in August of 2012.

It's activity level has grown, necessitating a second office.

The Grants Pass office is at 534 NE E St.

Rogue Community College will offer a new medical assistant program starting the fall 2014 term. An RCC news release says the three-term program is one of several health science offerings the college has developed recently because of a growing industry need.

An application for the program will be available by the middle of the summer.

Prerequisites include Computer Science 120 or documented computer proficiency, Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers, CPR or First Aid/CPR, and Math 60, Reading 30, and Writing 115 or higher.
