Foreclosure rates drop
Year-over-year foreclosure rates in Medford decreased in August, according to CoreLogic, a Santa Ana, Calif., real estate consulting firm that tracks foreclosure activity.
CoreLogic reported Medford foreclosure properties comprised 2.64 percent of the mortgage loans with outstanding balances, a decrease of 0.81 percent from August of 2013 when the rate was 3.45 percent.
Still, foreclosure activity in Medford was higher than the national foreclosure rate, which was 1.61 percent for August 2014. The local mortgage delinquency rate, 90 days or more overdue, decreased to 4.93 percent compared to 5.90 percent a year earlier.
Ag dates released
The U.S. Agriculture Department has released key dates applicable to the Agriculture Risk Coverage and Price Loss Coverage programs. Land owners have until Feb. 27 to update yield history and/or reallocate base acres at the local Farm Service Agency office.
Producers may make a one-time election of either ARC or PLC for the 2014 through 2018 crop years between Nov. 17 and March 31. Producers may sign contracts for 2014 and 2015 crop years from mid-April through summer 2015:
Covered commodities include barley, canola, large and small chickpeas, corn, crambe, flaxseed, grain sorghum, lentils, mustard seed, oats, peanuts, dry peas, rapeseed, long grain rice, medium grain rice (which includes short grain rice), safflower seeds, sesame, soybeans, sunflower seeds and wheat.
