Grand opening at Winchester Inn

ASHLAND — Winchester Inn and Alchemy restaurant have completed a bar expansion project, adding 40 percent capacity.

The new bar was designed by Winchester Inn’s owner Michael Gibbs and his son Drew Gibbs, incorporating floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the property's tiered gardens.

A grand opening celebration will run from 3 p.m. to midnight Friday, with live music by guitarist Ed Dunsavage beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Rental vacancy rates at 2.32 percent

Southern Oregon Rental Owners Association members report a 2.32 vacancy rate in Jackson and Josephine counties.

Members reported 132 vacancies out of 5,689 reporting units in June. SOROA's May vacancy rate was 1.9 percent. In June 2015, the organization reported a 1.93 percent vacancy rate.

Mark Dennett, president of DCG Research, will share his economic forecast at SOROA's monthly meeting, Tuesday, June 21, at Twin Creeks Retirement Center in Central Point.

Women engineers to hold breakfast

Rogue Valley Microdevices Founder and CEO Jessica Gomez will join other senior women executives in MicroElectroMechanical Systems and sensors at the first Women in Sensor Engineering breakfast at the 2016 Sensors Expo & Conference in San Jose.

WISE speakers will reflect upon their reasons for becoming a part of the industry and discuss why women represent less than 12 percent of electrical and mechanical engineers, according to a National Science Foundation Report.
