People's Bank names new board chair
Bill Jacobs has been named chairman of the board of directors of People's Bank of Commerce, and Jim Wright is vice chairman.
Jacobs, a founding board member of People’s Bank, has been vice chairman of the board since 2004, and he takes on the leadership role following the recent death of People's Bank founder and chairman Mike Sickels.
“While no one can fill Mike’s shoes, I feel confident that our board will continue to uphold his legacy to our community," Jacobs said in a statement.
Jacobs has chaired the audit committee, and serves on the board’s asset/liability, governance and compensation and senior loan committees.
Wright currently chairs the governance and compensation committee and serves on the asset/liability and senior loan committees.
Jacobs was president and CEO of service and wholesale supplier Tash Inc., of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., before retiring in 1992. Before that he was senior vice president, CFO and co-CEO of Pic 'N' Save Corp., a national retail chain based in Dominguez, Calif., from 1987 to 1990. He is an elder of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Medford.
Wright is a partner in C.A.M. Real Estate services, which includes Commercial Property Management, C & R Maintenance and ReMax Platinum.
He has chaired boards for Asante Health Systems, SOU Foundation, Medford Rogue Rotary Club, Oregon Economic Development Commission, Oregon State Finance Committee and the Southern Oregon Chapter of the American Red Cross.
He was named "First Citizen" in 1998 by The Chamber of Medford/Jackson County, was the 1991 SIR Award recipient from Associated General Contractors of Oregon, received the President's Medal from SOU in 1986, and was named Alumni of the Year in 1985 from SOU.
