Palmer shines at Hornet Invitational

SACRAMENTO — Former Crater High standout Trevor Palmer brought home a pair of NAIA provisional national qualifying times for the Southern Oregon University track team Saturday in the Hornet Invitational at Sacramento State University.

In the event featuring teams from across the nation, Palmer placed fourth in the 800- and 1,500-meter events with times of 1:53.62 and 3:57.4, respectively.

SOU junior Kevin Jeffers nabbed an NAIA national qualifying mark with a first-place finish in the steeple chase, clocking 9:25.49.

Ryan Musselman also qualified for nationals in the pole vault, soaring 16-1.

Other SOU standouts included sophomore Suni Davis, who clocked 58.69 in the women's 400 to finish 10th, while Alicia Jeffers was seventh in the 500 and senior Jeff Olsen was fifth in the 1,500 (3:57.81).
