Lee's blast helps SOU sweep Corban
ASHLAND — Katie Lee ripped a three-run home run in the sixth inning of Game 2 to help Southern Oregon sweep Corban in a Cascade Conference softball twin bill Saturday.
The Raiders defeated Corban 8-0 in five innings and 6-4 to improve to 4-2 in league and 9-19 overall.
The home run by Lee, who had five RBIs in the nightcap, followed a double by Joelle Riekeman and a single by Brin Tamblin and gave the Raiders a 6-3 lead. Lee also drove in two runs in the third inning with a fielder's choice.
Tamblin was 4-for-4 and Riekeman 3-for-3. Each scored two runs.
In the opener, which was called after five innings, SOU's Melissa Wilt pitched a one-hitter, striking out four and walking one. She raised her record to 3-5.
The Raiders followed a three-run second with a four-run fourth to seal the win. Tamlin had the lone hit in the fourth, a two-run single. The Raiders were helped by two walks, two hit batters and two errors.
Becca Shelamer had two hits and two RBIs for SOU. Alicia Caudill also drove in two runs.
In a home doubleheader Friday, Southern Oregon lost to Concordia 3-1 in the opener, then bounced back for a 2-1 victory.

u STANFORD INVITATIONAL — At Stanford, Calif., Southern Oregon senior Jeff Olsen bettered his season-best steeplechase time by nine seconds with a mark of 9:09.71.
Olsen, an Ashland High graduate, finished third in his heat.
Raider senior Trevor Palmer of Central Point qualified for the NAIA nationals with a time of 3:53.70 in the 1,500.
