OLATHE, Kan. — Southern Oregon University basketball standout Chelsey Zimmerman was named to the Daktronics-NAIA Women's Basketball All-American Scholar-Athlete Team on March 12.

Zimmerman was one of over 220 women's Division II basketball players to be named to the team as well as one of 16 players from the Cascade Conference.

Zimmerman, a junior, led SOU in numerous categories, including points where she totaled 409 for a 14.1 per-game clip. She also led the team in 3-point percentage with a 37-percent mark.

Zimmerman also earned one Cascade Conference Player of the Week Award in her final week of regular season play this year.

As well as being a standout on the court, Zimmerman earned a 3.81 cumulative GPA in Health and Physical Education. In mid-February, Zimmerman earned another scholar-athlete honor as a member of the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American District College Division Second Team.

In order to be eligible for the Daktronics-NAIA Women's Basketball All-American Scholar-Athlete Team, an athlete must be nominated by her head coach, earn a minimum of a 3.5 GPA on a scale of 4.0, and be a junior in academics.
