Raiders gain split behind Wilt's pitching

SALEM — Southern Oregon salvaged a split of a Cascade Conference softball doubleheader Friday by routing Corban College 17-0 in the second game.

The Raiders dropped the opener, 3-2.

Southern Oregon (11-23, 6-6 CC) scored runs in four of the first five innings of Game 2, which proved to be plenty of support for pitcher Melissa Wilt. She held Corban to a fourth-inning single by Siriana Guest and faced one batter over the minimum.

For Southern Oregon, Brin Tamblin and Katie Lee each had three hits in the win and four hits in the twin bill.

Corban is 6-30-1 and 3-13 in league.

In the opener, Corban's Erin Sailors pitched a two-hitter and struck out nine.

Jessica Pierce's solo home run in the bottom of the sixth inning was the winner.
