SOU netters ranked 10th nationally

ASHLAND —The Southern Oregon University volleyball team continued its climb in the national polls, weighing in this week at No. 10 entering its final homestand of the season. The Raiders, currently on an 18-match win streak, face Corban on Friday at 7 p.m. at McNeal Pavilion.

SOU can break the school's match win streak held by the 2005 squad, which finished 12th in the nation.

"If you said at the beginning of this season that we would be vying for a conference championship on the final week of the season...I would have said 'I'll take it,'" SOU coach Josh Rohlfing said. "That is something that you aim for as a team year in and year out.

"What a special group of athletes and people this team is and has become."

Five seniors will play their final regular-season home matches this weekend. They are: Shanna Claflin, Molly Grossmann, Jaclyn Hamilton-Smith, Richelle Millsap, and Whitney Riehl.

"I will be very said to see these athletes leave this program when the season is finished, but I understand that we still have a lot to accomplish in the next month," Rohlfing said. "We are not finished."
