Coyotes edge out Raiders
ASHLAND — The College of Idaho Coyotes continued their quest for a Cascade Conference home playoff spot by taking out Southern Oregon 65-52 on Friday at McNeal Pavilion.
The win puts the Coyotes at 11-12 overall and 8-5 in conference play. SOU suffered its third consecutive loss and fell to 7-16 overall and 3-10 in conference.
SOU was without leading scorer Matt Cowell, who injured an ankle last weekend at Evergreen. Josh McDermott was also slowed by an ankle sprain.
C of I nailed five 3-pointers in the second half to pull away from a 24-21 lead it owned at the half.
Josh Owen led the Coyotes with 18 points, while Bryan Champ added 13 points and Anton Coleman had 12.
The Raiders were led by Ryon Pool's 20 points.
Southern Oregon continues its weekend home stretch when it hosts Eastern Oregon tonight at 7:30.
