Baker-led Raiders tie win-streak mark

ASHLAND — Ashley Baker turned in a career night to lead the 21st-ranked Southern Oregon women's basketball team to a 75-66 victory over Northwest Christian Friday at McNeal Pavilion.

Southern Oregon has won 12 straight games and is 23-4 overall, 15-3 in the Cascade Conference. Northwest Christian is 8-18 and 3-14.

The 12 consecutive wins ties the school record set during the 1997-98 season.

Baker scored 22 points on 10 of 16 shooting and had a game-high 16 rebounds. Jacki Speer turned in her 18th double-double of the season with 12 points and 14 rebounds. Emily Brookins finished with 11 points and Whitney Scott had 10 points.

Elise Gray scored 21 for the Beacons.

SOU led 36-29 at the half, then held Northwest Christian to 37 percent shooting in the second half.

Men's Basketball

NORTHWEST CHRISTIAN 64, SOU 59 — At Ashland, Northwest Christian outscored Southern Oregon 6-0 over the last 1:35 at McNeal Pavilion.

Dylan Perry led four Beacons in double figures with 16 points. Jordan Whittenburg finished with 15 points.

Humphrey Jackson had a team-high 12 points for the Raiders, while Eli Thornton and Austin Wolfer both had 10 points.
