Oregon coaches to visit UO Southern Oregon club

University of Oregon football recruiting coordinator and linebackers coach Don Pellum and Oregon wide receivers coach Scott Frost will be the featured guest speakers at a dinner event sponsored by The Oregon Club of Southern Oregon on Feb. 1.

The dinner, meant to introduce and celebrate the Ducks' 2012 recruiting class signees, will take place at Rogue Valley Country Club. It begins with a social hour at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. Immediately following the meal, the coaches will show video and highlights of the newly signed players.

The cost is $50 for members and $55 for everyone else. Reservations will be taken until Jan. 25.

SYMMONDS TO ANNOUNCE AUCTION WINNER — United States Olympian and former University of Oregon standout Nick Symmonds will announce the winner of his "Your Twitter Name on an Olympian in 2012" eBay Inc. auction at a live press event today.

He announced he would be auctioning off his left shoulder on Jan. 6 to raise money for his Olympic dreams.

The winning individual or organization will have their Twitter handle placed on Symmonds' left shoulder in the form of a temporary tattoo.

The auction lasted 10 days and received more than 22,000 page views, as well as significant buzz on social media networks. The winning bid was $11,100.

Symmonds will make the announcement and introduce the winner to the world via an online press conference.

Symmonds is a middle-distance runner and a member of the Oregon Track Club.

OSU'S MAK NAMED PAC-12 GYMNAST OF WEEK — At Corvallis, Oregon State senior Leslie Mak was awarded Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week honors.

Mak, a native of Toronto, Ontario, helped propel the No. 7 Beavers to a 196.525-195.975 victory over fourth-ranked Oklahoma.

The reigning Pac-10 Gymnast of the Year took the all-around title, earning a score of 39.400. She helped OSU take the lead with a 9.90 on bars and 9.875 on the beam and added a 9.875 on the floor exercise.
