Wiese leads No. 11 Beavers past USC
LOS ANGELES — Sydney Wiese scored 19 points, 13 in the first half, to lead No. 11 Oregon State in a 76-66 win over USC in a Pac-12 match-up Monday night.
Wiese got the Beavers out of the gate, scoring a layup 14 seconds into the game and following it with a 3-pointer, all in the first minute of play. She knocked down three 3s as Oregon State took a 38-33 lead. The Beavers (12-1, 2-0 Pac-12) outscored USC 38-33 again in the second half
Ruth Hamblin had 16 points and Jamie Weisner 15 as the Beavers shot 49.2 percent from the field (29 of 59).
Alexyz Vaioletama finished with 24 points to lead USC (9-5, 1-2).
The Beaver completed a sweep of Southern California after Saturday's 65-47 win over UCLA.
Oregon State returns to Corvallis for its first home game since December 6, when the Beavers take on rival Oregon Friday.
OREGON 62, UCLA 46: At Los Angeles, Lexi Petersen scored 19 of her 21 in the second half and had a career-high nine assists to lead Oregon.
Lexi Bando scored 10 and Jillian Alleyne grabbed 15 rebounds for Oregon (8-5, 1-1 Pac-12), helping first-year coach Kelly Graves get his first Pac-12 win.
UCLA (5-9, 1-2) took a 24-17 lead into halftime, limiting the Ducks to just 7 of 34 field goals, including 3 of 20 from 3-point range.
Amanda Delgado hit a pair of 3's and Bando and Petersen hit one apiece during a 15-3 Oregon run to open the second half to made it 32-27 with 13 minutes to play.
A 3-pointer by Katelyn Loper sparked a 12-2 run by the Ducks and pushed their lead to 48-35 with 7:41 remaining and UCLA trailed by at least eight the rest of the way.
