Rogues rip Klamath Falls; Wu advances

KLAMATH FALLS — Medford got itself back on track in a big way Thursday night, scoring early and often in a nonleague baseball matchup with the Klamath Falls Gems for a 15-2 runaway win by the Rogues at Kiger Stadium.

Tony Roque was 3-for-4 with three runs and three RBIs, Chris DeVito 3-for-5 with two runs and one RBI and J.J. Kitaoka made his only hit count with a grand slam that highlighted a six-run ninth inning for the visiting Rogues.

Medford (6-9) returns to West Coast League action at 6:35 tonight when the Rogues play host to the Corvallis Knights in the first of a three-game series at Harry & David Field.

Andrew Martinez, DeVito and Roque each supplied RBI singles in the first inning to give Medford a 3-0 advantage.

The Rogues pushed their lead to 7-0 in the third behind a two-run double from Roque, who finished with two doubles, and a two-run error on a misplayed grounder to third base by Brock Pradere.

A.J. Dean picked up the pitching victory for Medford after allowing two hits with five walks and four strikeouts over five innings. Aaron Schwark, Jared Holloman, Daniel Ferrell and Gabe Genter each pitched one inning of scoreless relief for the Rogues, who scattered three hits overall by the Gems.
