SOU strikes early for win at Pacific Union
ANGWIN, Calif. — Ahmon Afenegus and Kirk Bassett scored in Sunday afternoon's opening minutes, providing the Southern Oregon men's soccer team with all it needed to claim a 2-0 victory at Pacific Union in SOU's final nonleague contest.
The Raiders bumped their record to 5-0 heading into their Cascade Conference openers Friday at College of Idaho and Sunday at Rocky Mountain (Mont.).
Afenegus dropped off his third goal of the season unassisted just moments after the opening kick. Bassett's first goal, assisted by Brayan Molina, came in the 11th minute.
Jonathan Morales got the shutout with five saves for the Raiders, who have gone 252 minutes since allowing their last goal. Pacific Union had a 10-9 advantage in shots, and the Raiders put four on goal.
The Pioneers have now lost 58 straight games dating back to 2011.
