SOU pounds Warner Pacific
ASHLAND — In a battle of the only two unbeaten teams left in the Cascade Conference, the 13th-ranked Southern Oregon women's basketball team smothered Warner Pacific defensively for an 86-38 win Thursday night at Mountain Avenue Gym.
The Raiders (13-0, 6-0 CCC) preserved their perfect start by forcing 29 turnovers — including 19 in the first half — and holding the Knights (10-2, 5-1) to 1-of-18 shooting in the third quarter to open up a 67-27 lead.
Ashley Claussen had 21 points, six assists and three steals, Autumn Durand tallied 11 points and 13 rebounds, and sisters Tiani and Toria Bradford collected five steals apiece. SOU shot just 4-of-24 from 3-point range but kept WPC to 24-percent shooting overall.
WPC was led by Lindsay Loe's eight points and five rebounds.
SOUTHERN OREGON 92, WARNER PACIFIC 90: At Ashland, SOU's Jordan West had 26 points, 10 rebounds and six assists and Kenny Meyer 18 points and five assists in the Cascade Conference contest late Thursday night.
Clay Sierra added 15 points and Joel Spear 11 points, nine rebounds and five assists for the Raiders (13-3, 6-0 CCC).
