Raiders bag four victories
COOS BAY — The Southern Oregon University women's wrestling team won four of seven matches Saturday at Southwestern Oregon Community College, but uncontested weight classes that translated to 18 free points were the difference in a 30-19 dual win for the Lakers.
Their three forfeits aside, the Raiders had a positive outing against the 15th-ranked team in the Women's College Wrestling Association.
SOU won the first three matches, starting with Jessica DeHart's 6-4 decision at 109 pounds. Madelynn McIlwain and Kal Holliday, the Raiders' 116- and 123-pounders, followed with matching 10-0 major decisions.
After Alejandra Rodriguez's 7-6 loss at 130, Chloe Spencer continued her dominant season with a second-round pin at 136. SOU's Sydney Norvell (143) and Latiana Tauaese (190) dropped the last two contests by major decisions.
The forfeits occurred at 101, 155 and 170 pounds.
