Yuba City edges Rogues in 10th inning

YUBA CITY, Calif. — Aric Cortez doubled in T.J. Dove in the bottom of the 10th inning to give Yuba City an 8-7 Great West League baseball win over the Medford Rogues Monday.

The loss dropped the Rogues below .500 at 3-4.

Dove started the rally with his second double of the game, off Medford reliever Malik Evans.

Both teams crafted big innings earlier.

Medford scored six runs in the fifth to take a 6-2 lead.

Two walks around a single by Jake Gozzo loaded the bases in the fifth for the Rogues off Landon Mitchell. Mitchell was replaced by Chris Lamas, who hit two batters in succession to tie the score.

After a flyout for the second out, Connor Lowrie ripped a three-run double. He was brought in moments later on an Alex Isola single.

The Rogues made it 7-2 in the seventh, but the Bears (2-4) answered with five runs in the eighth to tie it.

Logan Wurm, who homered earlier, and Dove each had two-run doubles in the frame.

Lowrie, who finished with four RBIs, and Davis Delorefice each had two hits.
