Raiders ease past Walla Walla
COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. — Southern Oregon started its road trip on a high note Friday and finished it the same way Sunday afternoon, keeping Walla Walla down with a 25-19, 25-19, 25-20 Cascade Conference win at Windemuth Court.
Junior libero Ashlyn Flynn picked up 24 digs, the highest total in her career in a three-set match, while freshman middle Elliott Cook (9 kills) and junior outside Dani Johnson (8 kills) headed a spread-out attack that mounted a .228 average.
The Raiders upped their records to 10-7 overall and 7-5 in the CCC, where they stand in sixth place with another matchup against the last-place Wolves (1-16, 0-12) upcoming next Saturday in Ashland.
Natalie James had 15 assists and Hannah Bogatin 14, helping freshman middle Deziree McKee total a season-high six kills on 11 attacks. Malie Rube had six kills, too, and Emma Ryan and Kadyn Jones added two service aces apiece.
Lauren Barlow's eight kills and nine digs led the Wolves, who hit .135.
SOU won two of three on its trip, which started with a five-set win at No. 8 College of Idaho and resumed Saturday with a straight-set loss at No. 14 Eastern Oregon.
