Montana State’s Wyatt Thompson-Siporen, a 2015 Ashland High School graduate, scored 7,132 points to place second in the Big Sky Conference track and field decathlon championships at the University of Montana on Wednesday and Thursday.
Montana sophomore Brendan Thurber-Blaser won the competition with 7,154 points.
Thompson-Siporen took firsts in the long jump at 23 feet, 3 1/4 inches; the pole vault at 16-1 3/3 and the javelin at 190-4. He also had personal bests in the 400 meters at 52.21 seconds and the 1,500 at 4:52.2.

Thompson-Siporen will also be in the pole vault competition on Saturday but will sit out the javelin, in which he has the sixth best mark in the conference.
