RCC men get late goal for win over Lane

Jhoel Sarraude found the back of the net in the 78th minute and the Rogue Community College men’s soccer team held on for a 3-2 win over Lane Community College at U.S. Cellular Community Park.

Sarraude took a pass from Rosendo Josue Reyes at midfield, then drove his way past two defenders and eluded two more would-be tacklers before finishing past the Lane goalkeeper to break a 2-all tie.

Sarraude has 12 goals through RCC’s first six games of the season. Flores recorded his team-best eighth assist on the goal.

The Ospreys (5-0-1, 3-0-1 NWAC South Region) built a 2-0 lead on a 12th-minute goal from Zach Olson and Sarraude’s successful penalty kick five minutes later.

Lane (1-4-1, 1-2-1) battled back to cut the deficit in half in the 25th minute, and then tied the game with a 60th-minute goal on a free kick.

RCC next plays on the road at 12 p.m. Saturday against Clark College (1-1-2, 1-1-2) in Vancouver, Washington. The Ospreys are currently in first place in the NWAC South Region with 10 points.
