Police seek men who robbed Medford store at gunpoint

Four men who tied up a clerk and three customers during an armed robbery at a clothing and jewelry store in west Medford today are still on the run, Medford police said.

Just before noon, the robbers — all described as Hispanic men in their 20s or 30s — entered Creaciones La Muñeca, a store at 1712 W. Main St. that sells clothing, shoes and jewelry, as well as providing phone cards and international money orders.

The men carried handguns and tied up a woman working at the shop. When three men came into the store as customers, they also were bound, Medford police said.

The robbers grabbed an undisclosed amount of jewelry and fled. They are believed to be traveling in a bluish-green Ford Aerostar van from the mid to late 1990s.

Officers and detectives rushed to the store in a busy neighborhood next to Black Bird Shopping Center. Spanish-speaking officers were summoned to interview the victims and witnesses, who were taken to the police station.

Medford's Deputy Police Chief Tim George said the department had three bilingual employees on duty this afternoon to assist with translation.

Police also sought witnesses from outside the store who might have seen the men fleeing. Investigators hope to obtain surveillance photos or videos, which could aid in the case.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact the Medford Police Department at 541-770-4784.
