Peace choir potluck at Lithia Park Sunday
The Rogue Valley Peace Choir will welcome new members with a picnic and ice cream social this weekend.
The choir will hold a potluck picnic and ice cream social from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 22, in the Cotton Memorial Grove at Lithia Park. This gathering is open to anyone interested in the community choir.
The Rogue Valley Peace Choir formed in 2003 and is led by music director Heather Hutton. The non-audition choir, which consists of more than 100 men and women from throughout the Rogue Valley, sings self-selected music that inspires peace, social justice and responsible stewardship of the Earth. In 2006 the choir
traveled to Japan, and it plans to travel to Cuba in 2011.
The first practice for the new season will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, at the Methodist Church, 175 N. Main St., Ashland. New members should arrive at 6 p.m. for a brief orientation and to register. All vocal parts are welcome. For more information about the choir or potluck picnic, visit the
Rogue Valley Peace Choir's Facebook page or call Sally McKirgan at 541-488-1239.
