Three Raiders on all-conference team

The Southern Oregon University soccer team placed three competitors on the second-team all-Cascade Conference all-star list.

Freshmen Stacy Szeto (defender) and Sara Switzer (midfielder) and sophomore Justina MacDowell (forward) each represented the Raiders on the second team.

Oregon Tech had two first-teamers in former Phoenix High standout Jaclyn Unruh (junior goalkeeper) and Cascade Christian graduate Katie O'Brien (sophomore forward).

Jessica Ramback of Concordia was named offensive player of the year, while teammate Jackie Pronovost earned top defensive honors.

Newcomer of the year accolades went to former Roseburg player Carli Godard (Concordia) and coach of the year went to Grant Landy, also of Concordia.

Harrison Leep took first place for the second straight year at the Oregon Middle School Cross Country Championships at Fort Stevens State Park in Hammond, Ore. last Saturday. Leep won the 3,000-meter varsity race with a time of 10 minutes, 28 seconds.

Leep, representing St. Mary's school in the competition, also currently holds the state's fastest time among middle school runners in the 3,000-meters at 10:10, according to athletic.net.
