The Rogue River eighth-grade girls won their second straight title at the Warrior Class small-school state tournament in Philomath. The Junior Lady Chieftains went 3-1, losing to North Marion, then beating Central Point, Central and Sweet Home.
Kelly Maxey scored 20 points and Alli Ehrhardt 10 for Rogue River in the 40-31 title-clinching win over Sweet Home.
The fourth-seeded South Medford Blue Generals claimed the eighth-grade AAU championship with a 47-42 victory over North Medford Black this weekend.
Jake McCoy, Joe Cooney and Alex Young scored 12 points apiece for the Generals against the third-seeded Black.
In the tournament opener, the Generals recorded a 45-42 win over North Grants Pass, then won a double-overtime thriller over the South Medford White Generals in the semifinal.
Deondre Davis scored a game-high 26 and Ryan Johnson added 15 for Blue in the 58-54 upset over top-seeded White.
In the third-place game, White overcame an 18-point deficit to knockoff No. 2 Phoenix.
Damon Cochran bowled a 298 game in the Tuesday Nighters League at Lava Lanes.
Tony Bristow and Jim Swarts each rolled 290 games at Lava Lanes. Bristow did it Feb. 22 in the GoodSports League, and Swarts did it in the Mixed Seniors League Feb. 25.
