RiverDawgs blow late lead, split with Seals
Marcus James was superb on the mound for the Southern Oregon RiverDawgs on Sunday and received a helping hand from Jared Adamson and Allen Smith.
James went this distance, allowing one earned run on five hits and struck out four as Southern Oregon captured the first game, 7-1. The Seals, however, took Game 2 after rallying from a late 3-1 deficit to score a 6-3 victory at Harry & David Field.
In the opener, Adamson had an RBI double in the second and fifth innings, scored three times and went 3-for-4 at the plate.
Allen Smith's two-run double down the right field line in the second frame gave the RiverDawgs (18-15) a 4-0 advantage.
Austin Hogans also had a two-run single in the bottom of the fifth for the RiverDawgs.
In the nightcap, the Seals scored four runs on six hits in the top of the seventh to come from behind and upend the RiverDawgs.
Austin Coleman was 2-for-3 with two doubles for the RiverDawgs, who also received a 2-for-2 effort from Adamson.
