Ex-Crater runner Tyerman chosen athlete of the week
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif — Former Crater athlete Kayleigh Tyerman was named athlete of the week at Cal Poly.
Tyerman, who was the Class 5A state champion in the 1,500 and 3,000 meters last spring, was the top collegiate finisher in the Lagoon Open last Saturday. In her first college event, Tyerman covered the 5,000-meter course in 17 minutes, 38 seconds.
While at Crater, Tyerman was a two-time state runner-up in cross country.
Oregon State baseball coach Pat Casey will be speaking at a Beaver Chalk Talk next Thursday at the Rogue Valley Country Club.
The event is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
