Spotters needed, caddie school set for S.O. Golf Championships

Spotters are needed for the Southern Oregon Golf Championships, and there will be a caddie school for the tournament today at Rogue Valley Country Club.

Spotters will be paid and must be available Tuesday through Sept. 6.

The caddie school is at 9 a.m. today at RVCC. No experience is necessary, but prospective caddies must be at least 10 years old and be able to carry a golf bag. There is no fee for the school.

Tournament caddies will be chosen on a first-come, first-served basis, but those who attend the school receive preference when assignments are made.

To sign up or for more information on spotting or caddie school, call the pro shop at 541-772-4050.

Southern Oregon RiverDawgs pitchers Jon Flinn and Frank Charlton and left fielder Chris Bradshaw were named to the West Coast League Tri-State All-Tournament team.

Flinn was named MVP for the fourth-seeded RiverDawgs, who were winless in their three tourney games. The right-hander allowed one run in seven innings against the regular-season champion Humboldt Crabs in the tourney opener.

On the year, Flinn went 3-3 with a 3.15 ERA. He recorded 29 strikeouts with 22 walks in 652/3 innings of work.

Charlton, who struck out 60 in 682/3 innings, finished 4-4 with a 3.01 ERA.

At the plate, Bradshaw led Southern Oregon in hits (59) and runs (27). The former North Medford standout batted .376 with 19 RBIs, which tied for first on the team.
