Four local Taekwondo students took home gold medals in red belt competition at the Jimmy Kim Invitational in Los Angeles on Oct. 2.
Aloha Kaeo-Wailehua, 11, Mackenzie Addington, 11, and Kamaile Kaeo-Payne, 9, all earned gold in sparring and Taekwondo forms at the meet, which featured more than 500 competitors.
Jacob Grace, 15, received a gold in sparring and silver in forms.
The students are members of the America Taekwondo Center of Oregon, which is located in Medford. Peter Payne is the owner and instructor and Christine Kaeo-Payne was the coach on hand in Los Angeles.
The Superior Stingray Swim Team won easily at the Shakespeare Meet in Ashland at Southern Oregon University on Oct. 24.
The squad had a high-point swimmer in five out of 10 divisions and scored 2,596 points, keeping runner-up Sun Oaks Aquatics at bay with 1,125 points.
For the girls, Zoey Dodson took the ages 8-and-under division, Taylor Cunningham won the 11-12 year-old division and Sarah Fay Reierson claimed the 15-and-over division.
On the boys side, Victor Orozco won the 9-10 year-old division and Aaron Ghiglieri captured the ages 15-and-over crown.
