Balanced Spartans stave off Generals
With goals by five different players and two quick third-period scores, the Southern Oregon Spartans hockey team was able to pull away for a 5-3 victory over Eugene on Friday for the Spartans' second-straight victory at The RRRink.
The Generals' Sean Park answered both goals by the Spartans (8-5 NORPAC) in each of the first two periods, but Vance Bridgman and Casey Skolnik scored three minutes apart in the third period to seal the victory for Southern Oregon.
The Generals (6-8 NORPAC) scored two minutes later, but the Spartans' Chris Whitten added an insurance goal moments later.
Also for the Spartans, Greg Evans netted in the first period and Shane Harrington slapped in a goal in the second.
Goalie David Lamb made 33 saves for the Spartans.
