Western Oregon University safety Bryce Peila and offensive lineman Jason Slowey have been selected to the Great Northwest Athletic Conference football first team.
Peila, a 6-foot-1 sophomore and former Crater High standout, was fifth on the team with 58 stops and finished tied for second in the league with six interceptions, two of which he returned for touchdowns.
Slowey, a former North Medford High player, started every game for the Wolves at left tackle. He was also named to the all-conference team in 2009. The 6-4 junior was one of two unanimous all-conference selections this fall.
SEASIDE, Calif. — Jason Allred finished tied for eighth with 10 others after opening with a 3-under 69 in Wednesday's first round at a second stage PGA Tour qualifying school site.
Allred, a former Ashland High standout, recorded seven birdies at the Bayonet Golf Course.
Andres Gonzales of Olympia, Wash., is in first place with a 10-under 62.
Allred, Chris Baryla and Brock Mackenzie teed off this morning.
The top 19 and ties after Saturday's final round advance to the Q school finals early next month in Florida.
