Six Superior Stingray swimmers received state honors at the 2010 Oregon Swimming Award Ceremony, held Nov. 21 at the Richard R. Brown Fine Arts Center in Canby.
Olivia Dow, Aaron Ghiglieri, Joey Hunter, Victor Orozco, Sarah Reierson and Breanna Sapienza received Top Five swim awards for their respective performances during the 2009-10 Oregon Swimming, Inc., short-course-yard and long-course-meter seasons. The awards denote the five fastest swimmers for the previous swim year in boy, girl and age group categories.
In the 8 & under age category, Orozco received a Top Five award for his times in fourteen events, including the 25, 50 and 100-yard freestyle; 25 and 50-yard backstroke; 50-yard (and meter) breaststroke; 25 and 50-yard (and meter) butterfly; and 100-yard individual medley.
In the 10 & under category, Dow received a Top Five award for her times in the 50 and 100-yard (and meter) breaststroke. Hunter earned the honor for his times in the 50, 100 and 200-yard freestyle, and 100 individual medley.
In the 13-14 age category, Sapienza took home the award for her times in the 50, 100 and 200-yard (and meter) butterfly, 100 and 200-meter freestyle and 100-meter backstroke.
In the 15-16 age category, Ghiglieri earned Top Five accolades in seven events, including the 50-yard (and meter) freestyle; 100-yard (and meter) freestyle; 100-yard (and meter) butterfly; and 100-yard backstroke.
Reierson earned the honor in six events, including the 200-yard backstroke; 100 and 200-meter backstroke; 100-meter freestyle; 100-meter butterfly; and 200-yard individual medley.
