North Medford softball to host ceremony for state title

In celebration of achieving the program's sixth state championship in large-school softball this past weekend, the North Medford program will be hosting a ceremony at 7 p.m. Monday at the high school softball field.

A dessert reception will follow the festivities that honor the 2012 Class 6A state champion Black Tornado, with former North Medford head coach Larry Binney serving as the event's host.

The North Medford boys soccer team is hosting a camp for boys and girls in grades 3-7 June 25-28 at North Medford High.

The cost is $33 if the registration form and check to North Medford High School Boys soccer is mailed by June 18.

Registration forms can be picked up at North Medford High or by contacting Michael Belzberg at mr.belzberg@hotmail.com.

Registration on the day of the camp starts at 4:15 p.m. at North Medford, and the clinic runs from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Those interested in participating are encouraged to check in early.

North Medford senior Chris Faust, Ashland senior Billy Hansen and Cascade Christian senior Eric Morse will play in the Oregon Athletic Coaches Assocation All-Star Series June 15-16.

Faust and Hansen will compete on the "State" team that will play the Metro squad at 8 p.m. on June 15 at Northwest Christian University. Morse will compete on the "South" team that will play North at 5 p.m. at the same venue.

On June 16, the consolation game will be played at 4 p.m. at Wilsonville High, with the championship game set for 5 p.m. and a state vs. metro contest at 7:15 p.m.

Brian Morse will coach the South squad along with Days Creek's James Ellis.
