Mustangs fall short against Roseburg
The Medford Mustangs lost their lead in the sixth inning and then fell behind for good in the ninth in suffering a 6-4 loss to Roseburg Dr. Stewart's in nonleague American Legion AAA baseball at Harry & David Field on Tuesday.
The Mustangs scored all four of their runs in the bottom of the fourth inning when Cody Hoff hit a two-run single after Jessie Hornbrook and Charlie Walker each had RBI singles. Hoff's hit to left field drove in Hornbrook and Walker and gave Medford a 4-2 lead.
Billy Hansen went 2-for-4 for the Mustangs (5-2).
David Irvine hit the go-ahead single with one out in the top of the ninth and Joey Bell finished 2-for-4 with one RBI for Roseburg (1-1), which gave up one hit and allowed two baserunners overall after the sixth inning.

NORTH JACKSON 6-2, HENLEY 0-4 — At Eagle Point, Branden Wilson tossed a four-hitter with seven strikeouts and no walks and hit a solo home run in the third inning to propel North Jackson to a win in the opening game of the American Legion A Area 4 doubleheader.
Johnny Wilkerson smacked a three-run homer in the first inning to get the Eagles (4-3) off to a good start in the opener.
In Game 2, James Dixon had an RBI single in the second inning and scored on an Eric Radcliffe double. Dixon also struck out seven in a complete-game effort.

WU TIED FOR 10TH — At Greensboro, N.C., Dylan Wu, of Medford, shot a 1-over-par 71 in the first round of the American Junior Golf Association FJ Invitational at Cardinal Golf & Country Club.
Wu, 15, is tied for 10th place after making six birdies, five bogeys and a double bogey. Leader Motin Yeung, of Orlando, Fla., shot a 66 and leads the field by three strokes.
The four-round tournament, which ends Friday, is one of only 12 that requires an invitation on the AJGA national schedule of about 90 events.
