MUSTANGS DROP PAIR — At Salem, the Medford Mustangs gave up four unearned runs in dropping a 4-3 decision to the Vancouver Cardinals in the 16-team Willamette Classic, then lost a 2-1 non-tournament game to the Salem Post 20 Dirtbags.

Six Mustang errors led to all of Vancouver's runs at John Lewis Field on the Willamette University campus.

The Mustangs scored two runs in the sixth inning to knot the score at 2-all. Medford loaded the bases on walks to Cody Hoff and Taylor Humphrey and a bunt single by Charlie Walker. Hoff scored on a fielder's choice by Evan Westhelle-Grant and Billy Hansen's sacrifice fly brought home the second run.

Ethan Schlecht, who went 3-for-4, doubled to open the ninth for the Mustangs and scored two outs later on Hayden Evans' single.

The Mustangs (5-5) gave up an unearned run in the bottom of the seventh in the loss to Salem Post 20. It extended the Mustangs' losing streak to four straight.

Medford's only run came in the fourth inning when Jesse Hornbrook scored from third with the bases loaded on a double-play grounder by Evans.

Hornbrook and Westhelle-Grant each had two hits for Medford.
