Allred shoots a 66 to make cut at Wichita Open
WICHITA, Kan. — Ashland native Jason Allred made an eagle on the 18th hole to wrap up a 5-under par 66 Friday, moving him from 94th into a tie for 38th heading into the third round at the Preferred Health Systems Wichita Open at Crestview Country Club.
Allred, who bounced back from an even-par 71 on Thursday to make the cut by two strokes, made five birdies in addition to the eagle for one of the best rounds of the day. Overall leader Jim Herman sits at 12-under par after shooting a 64 Friday.
Allred birdied holes 2 and 3 before making six straight pars to make the turn at 2-under. He birdied the next two holes. He quickly bounced back from his one slip up — the double-bogey on 15 — by sinking a birdie 3 on 16, then wrapped up the stellar day with the eagle 3 on the Par 5 18th.
