Rogues blow past Bend to complete sweep

With big afternoons from Clayton Meyer and Jeff Hardy, the rest of the Medford Rogues' West Coast League baseball team decided to get in on the act in Thursday's series finale with Bend.

Boasting a 7-2 lead, the Rogues tacked on nine more runs in the bottom of the seventh inning for a 16-2 win and Medford got its four-game sweep of the Elks at Harry & David Field for a fifth-straight victory.

After the Elks (2-5 WCL) went ahead 2-1 in the top of the second, Meyer hit a three-run home run for the Rogues, who scored four in the frame to go up 5-2.

The Rogues' lead ballooned to 7-2 with a run in each of the fourth and sixth innings, then Tucker Campbell's two-run single highlighted Medford's scoring spree in the ninth.

Hardy allowed just two earned runs on five hits, two walks and struck out four in six innings to improve to 2-0 on the mound.

Meyer finished 3-for-5 with five RBIs and three runs scored while Campbell capped his day with a 3-for-5, four-RBI, two-run performance.

The Rogues (5-2 WCL) also received a 3-for-5 effort from Blaine Tanner, who scored twice and drove in one run and Tanner Lubach went 2-for-5 with a pair of RBIs which included a run-scoring double in the first inning.
