Larkins named Oregon Bowling Proprietors of Year
Lela and John Larkin have been named Bowling Proprietors of the Year by the Oregon State Bowling Proprietors Association.
They were recognized for their efforts during this summer's Kids Bowl Free Program, which allows kids 17 and under to bowl two games for free Monday through Friday throughout the summer at Roxy Ann Lanes. Over 2,600 participants registered online for the program.
The Larkins were also recognized for their efforts to improve the sport of bowling throughout the entire state. They are beginning their eleventh year as proprietors of Roxy Ann Lanes and will host the 2015 Junior State Tournament and the 2016 Oregon State Open Tournament. Roxy Ann Lanes began serving the Rogue Valley 55 years ago in August of 1959.
Garden Grove staved off elimination seven times to emerge as the ASA 14B Western National champion at U.S. Cellular Community Park Sunday.
The Southern California "C" runner-up became the first ASA C-level squad to win a B-level national tournament by outlasting Alpine, Calif., 11-1, in the title fray. Earlier in the day, Garden Grove forced the "if" game with a 7-6 triumph over previously undefeated Alpine.
