Ashland grad places second in heptathlon
Former Ashland High track and field athlete Wyatt Thompson-Siporen, a senior at Montana State University, placed second in the heptathlon at the Big Sky Conference indoor track and field championships at Idaho State University in Pocatello Friday.
Thompson-Siporen, a 2015 Ashland graduate, scored 5,111 points. He won the long jump with a leap of 22 feet, 11 3/4 inches and the pole vault at 16-1 3/4.
Thompson-Siporen also finished second in 2019.
Grant Shurtliff of Eastern Washington won with 5,285 points.
In the regular pole vault event, Thompson-Siporen placed fourth on misses with a vault of 15-11 3/4. He won the event last year.
