Rogue Valley runners run in U.S. trials
Three former Rogue Valley runners competed in the U.S. Olympic Marathon Team Teams on Saturday in Atlanta.
Camelia Mayfield of Ashland and Marci Klimek and Amanda Phillips of Phoenix had qualified for the trials more than a year ago.
Mayfield had the best showing of the three, finishing the 26.2-mile race in 2 hours, 48 minutes, 17 seconds. She averaged 6:26 per mile and placed 180th among 390 women.
Klimek’s time was 2:57. She placed 330th with an average mile of 6:46.
Phillips did not finish.
Galen Rupp won the men’s race in 2:09:20, and Aliphine Tuliamuk claimed the women’s in 2:27:23.
