BASEBALL ROUNDUP: Mustangs rally to down Fairfield

The Medford Mustangs scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning — with Evan McLennan ripping the big hit — to eke out a 9-8 American Legion baseball victory over the Fairfield Expos Thursday at U.S. Cellular Community Park.

The big inning followed a six-run outburst by Fairfield in the top of the frame and upped the Mustangs’ record to 16-5.

Dylan Marsh started Medford’s sixth when he was hit by a pitch. Steven Ledendecker’s one-out double put runners at third and second. Taven Passey scored both with a triple to right field.

After a strikeout, Rowan Amann lined a single to left to score Passey. Walks to Chase Costanti and Bennett Thompson loaded the bases, and McLennan belted a bases-clearing double to center.

Amann was 3-for-4 with three runs and an RBI, while Marsh and Passey each drove in two.

Thompson pitched a perfect seventh with two strikeouts to preserve the win for Brady Eiler.
