Rogues trail by 10, rally for victory

The Medford Rogues scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to finish off a rally from a 10-run deficit and defeat the Bay Area Force in collegaite wood-bat baseball Thursday at Harry & David Field.

The game was the first of a four-game series. The teams meet again at 6:35 p.m. Friday.

Bay Area scored 10 runs in the first three innings before the Rogues (18-4) got started with a six-run third — with only two hits — and a four-run fourth to tie.

Each team scored a run in the seventh to keep it deadlocked. Medford’s tally came after Emiliano Alarcon singled and eventually came in on Drew Steelhammer’s sacrifice fly.

In the eighth, the Rogues pulled in front. They loaded the bases on a Jackson Hall single, a walk to Ben Steck and Josh Berman getting hit by a pitch. With one out, Hall scored on a wild pitch, and Alarcon hit a sacrifice fly to left to score Steck.

Hall was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs for the Rogues, and Jason Dumont was 2-for-4 with two runs.

The Force was led by Luke Keaschall, who was 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs. Jimmy Garcia, who drove in four runs, and Eric Woodrow, who drove in three, were each 2-for-5. Brian Rosario was 2-for-2 with two runs.
