Woodrow fuels Force rally against Rogues

Eric Woodrow sluggled a three-run home run in the eighth inning to spark a five-run rally as Bay Area Force overtook the Medford Rogues, 8-6, in collegiate wood-bat baseball Friday at Harry & David Field.

Woodrow’s blast to right field came after consecutive singles to open the eighth, which began with the Force trailing, 5-2.

After Woodrow tied it, Jimmy Garcia singled, Cole Anderson walked and AJ Borrego knocked an RBI double. Anderson then scored on a sacrifice fly.

Medford (18-5) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first when Josh Berman hit an RBI double, and Wyatt Young and Jackson Hall added run-scoring singles.

Young, who also belted his sixth home run in the ninth inning, was 2-for-5 with two RBIs and a run.

Bay Area’s Luke Keaschall was 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI, and Anthony Sortino was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

The teams meet again at 6:35 p.m. Saturday before finishing their series at 12:35 p.m. Sunday.
