Steck has key hit as Rogues win 20th

Ben Steck singled in two runs in the fourth inning to lead the Medford Rogues to their 20th collegiate wood-bat baseball win of the season, 7-6 over the Bay Area Force Sunday at Harry & David Field.

After allowing three runs in the top of the fourth to fall behind 6-5, Medford’s Drew Steelhammer began the bottom of the frame with a single to right. A one-out walk to Jackson Hall followed, and each moved up a base on a wild pitch before Steck’s hit to right.

Steck was 2-for-4, and Omar Ortiz was 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run for the Rogues (20-5).

Isaac Hill shined on the mound for the Rogues, pitching three hitless, scoreless innings in relief to earn his first save. He struk out three and walked four.

Bay Area’s Bryon Rosario was 3-for-3 with a run, and Eric Woodrow went 2-for-2 with an RBI.

The Rogues begin their final week of the season Tuesday with a 6:35 p.m. game against the Humboldt Eagles American Legion team.

On Thursday, Medford hosts the Cascade Collegiate Conference All-Stars in the first of a four-game series. Game time is 6:35 p.m.
