Late miscue proves costly for Rogues

The Medford Rogues pitching staff saw its scoreless innings streak at Harry & David Field snapped at 23 and then watched an 8-4 lead disappear in the eighth inning as the Cascade Collegiate League All-Stars rallied for an 11-8 win Wednesday night.

The CCL All-Stars scored twice in the first inning to keep the Rogues’ pitchers from extending their streak. The visitors then used a fly ball to right field by Zane Skansi that was lost in the lights with two outs and the bases loaded in the eighth to score three runs and put them on top for good at 9-8.

Medford’s Mike LaVigne went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI, while Noah Sudyka was 2-for-5 with one run and one RBI.

The Rogues (6-2) wrap up their series with the CCL All-Stars at 6:35 p.m. Thursday at Harry & David Field.

Skansi finished 3-for-6 with two runs and three RBIs, while Jake Dodge was 3-for-5 with two RBIs, John Taylor 3-for-4 with three runs and Michael Ball 3-for-5 with one run and two RBIs for the CCL All-Stars.
