Rogues use big seventh inning to pull away for win
The Medford Rogues weren’t going to let a late lead slip away for a second straight game, as they scored 10 runs in the seventh inning to pull away for a 15-4 win over the Cascade Collegiate League All-Stars at Harry & David Field Thursday night.
The Rogues (7-2) recorded just four hits — including Ruben Cedillo’s two-run double — in the big seventh inning, as they took advantage of two bases-loaded walks and a balk.
Medford went ahead 4-0 in the first inning thanks to a two-run single by Drew Steelhammer and a Cascade error that also brought home a pair of runs.
Steelhammer finished 2-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBIs.
Jake Gentry went 2-for-4 with a double, three runs scored and an RBI, while Grant Sherrod was also 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.
Rogues starting pitcher Josh Sandoval improved to 2-0 on the young season, going four innings and allowing five hits and two runs while striking out a pair of batters.
