Gentry, Cedillo spur Rogues’ 18-hit effort

Jake Gentry and Ruben Cedillo each posted three hits to fuel an 18-hit attack by the Medford Rogues in a 9-5 victory over the Wild Wild West League All-Stars late Tuesday at Harry & David Field.

Gentry finished 3-for-4 with three runs and one RBI and Cedillo went 3-for-5 with two RBIs for Medford (31-10), which will host the Portland Rosebuds today before capping the summer season Friday and Saturday against the Willamette Wild Bills.

Each game of Medford’s final homestand begins at 6:35 p.m. at H&D, with tickets available online at medfordrogues.com and, capacity willing, at the gate.

The first of two doubles by Gentry put Noah Sudyka in position to score on a passed ball, and Gentry later scored on an RBI single by Cedillo to tie the game at 2-all in the bottom of the first inning.

A double by Caleb Schorr kick-started a four-run second inning for the Rogues, with Schorr later scoring on an error before Gentry supplied an RBI double. Omar Ortiz, who went 2-for-5, followed with a two-run single.

The Wild Wild West League All-Stars cut Medford’s lead to 6-5 with a three-run home run by Alex Sol in the third inning, but the Rogues were able to keep their opponents off the scoreboard thereafter.

Crosby Albee hit a solo home run in the third inning to regain momentum for the Rogues.

Jacob Memmott earned the win in relief with two scoreless innings, striking out two with two hits allowed.

Ryan Brown, Camden Stephens and Jack Erickson each were also solid in relief, allowing a combined four hits and three walks with three strikeouts in four innings.
