Jackson County reports 19 new virus cases Sunday
Jackson County reported 19 new confirmed and presumptive positive cases of COVID-19 Sunday, bringing the local total to 1,668 with an unchanged number of six deaths.
A total of 247 cases are considered active infections and 120 people have been hospitalized to date. The demographic with the highest percentage of reported cases in the county is the age group 20-29. The state reported 366 new cases Sunday, bringing the total up to 42,101, while deaths remain at 653.
“People naturally begin to congregate indoors during the fall and winter seasons, and with COVID-19 continuing to spread in our community and clusters and outbreaks of COVID-19 occurring from indoor gatherings, we will need to rethink how we get together with friends and family this season,” according to a recent press release from Jackson County Public Health.
Community spread levels, location, duration, number of people involved, travel, physical distancing, mask wearing and hand washing influence the level of risk residents can expect when hosting a gathering.
